Laneway Closure for Temporary Crane Installation - February 18, 2020

What Work is Taking Place?


As early as Tuesday February 18, 2020, the laneway south of Eglinton Avenue between Chaplin Crescent and Russell Hill Road will be closed behind Toronto Fire Station 135 (641 Eglinton Avenue West) while crews install a tower crane.  During this time, there will be no through traffic in the laneway.  Property access will be maintained from either end of the laneway.  The crane will be in place for approximately one year. It will help facilitate lifting operations in and out of the station box. The crane will not swing live loads over adjacent properties or the sidewalk.
 

Hours of Work

  • As early as Tuesday February 18, 2020 for approximately two (2) weeks
  • Work will take place 6:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m., Monday – Sunday
  • Work may be rescheduled, or be longer or shorter than expected

What to Expect

  • A crane will be installed in the Tertiary Entrance located on the south side of Eglinton, east of Chaplin Cres
  • The crane will be lifting materials in and out of work zones
  • Some noise and site lighting can be expected
  • Property access will be maintained from either end of the laneway

Traffic and Pedestrian Details

  • The Chaplin-Russell Hill laneway will be closed behind Toronto Fire Station
  •  The current traffic configuration will remain in place
  •  No impact to TTC bus service
